Kainalu Elementary May Day 2013 was such a fabulous event. Perpetuating the spirit of the rich Hawaiian culture is a tradition passed from generation to generation.
My memories of participating in these events were very happy and so much fun and this generation of kids revived those memories. They danced and sang with such enthusiasm! I could feel the nostalgia of my own childhood.
I love seeing my own children participating in these events and am a little sad thinking this might be our last one.
I don't think they do May Day events at Kailua Intermediate or Kalaheo High School anymore. It's unfortunate!
I snapped a few hundred photos, of course, and will look forward to my nephews May Day events. Until then, Wishing you a very lovely Mother's Day weekend!
Love and Aloha,
Maile

May Day Aloha Friday
Finally celebrating May Day at Kainalu Elementary on Aloha Friday! My son, Malu, along with several amazing kids were nominated to participate as part of the May Day Royal Court.
As a parent of a May Day Court, (kahili bearer), we all volunteered our time to set up the stage today and helped in other ways to create this big event. Costumes, food, decorations and so much more.
I made the program this year, and after many revisions, 500 copies will be printed, folded, and passed out tomorrow to all the attendees.
This will be our last year at Kainalu Elementary. We have enjoyed this school and look forward to the next journey at a new school this fall.
Wishing you a very Happy Aloha Friday!
Love Always,
Maile
