I got my green on. My Irish blood, is excited to celebrate in an old fashioned sort of Irish tradition.
I bought the corned beef brisket, and my mom is going to cook it, so I don't screw it up :) and it will be yummy with the potatoes and cabbage. Mustard on the side, please.
I think you are supposed to drink whisky or scotch on this day. I'm not a fan of either, and if my great great (I think that's right) grandmother, who may have owned a traditional Irish pub in New York (ancestry research is confusing...anyway) heard me say that, I'm sure I would be lectured, or something.
Traditions? Well, I intend to inspect all family members and friends and pinch anyone who isn't wearing their green. No, maybe, not sure.
I like the idea of Baily's Irish cream in my coffee or in a favorite mix drink, with amaretto, and more cream. Drizzled on good vanilla bean ice cream might be my first choice. Is that Irish enough?
A little drink (or dessert) to toast the holiday, with a traditional corn beef brisket and cabbage? My grandfather might say that's enough. Ahhhhh, I miss him now.
Cheers from however far back my Irish ancestry goes and a little pinch, seriously I have no idea why we do that...I bet google knows tho. I'm to lazy to ask right now, I must find some good vanilla bean ice cream first! Ha ha.
Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Maile
